The inaugural edition of the Indian Veteran Premier League (IVPL) is set to begin on February 23, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun. The IVPL will be “exclusively for veterans above 40 years old,” including players like Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, and Chris Gayle, “to showcase their cricketing skills and relive their passion for the game.”

Some of the other top cricketers who are going to play in the IVPL, presented by the Board of Veteran Cricket in India (BVCI) and organised by the Indian Power Cricket Academy (IPCA), will be Praveen Kumar, Yusuf Pathan, Herschelle Gibbs, Dwayne Smith, Stuart Binny, Munaf Patel, and more. These players are divided into six IVPL teams: VVIP Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan Legends, Red Carpet Delhi, Chhattisgarh Warriors, Telangana Tigers, and Mumbai Champions.
The Acting President of the BVCI and the Chairman of the IVPL, Praveen Tyagi, was quoted as saying, “We are trying to create one of the best League in India after IPL, we have added the World's best cricketers for the stature of Veteran Cricket, such as Chris Gayle, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina. This will infuse a new energy for Veteran Cricket in India as well as it will work like magic for Veteran Cricketers, who are living their passion for playing with International Cricketers from the World.”
Although the schedule of the IVPL is yet to be confirmed, Praveen Tyagi did talk about the length of the veteran’s tournament along with its broadcasting rights. He said, “We are excited for our first season which will be a highly attended event, all live matches on Euro Sports, DD Sports, and FANCODE too, many other exciting Opportunities for the First season, just wait for the Magic to unfold on February 23 to March 3.”
