In the 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup, currently held in the USA and the Caribbean, the Indian cricket team will compete against England in the semifinal. At the Providence Stadium in Georgetown, Guyana, India will look forward to getting the better of England, just two years after a one-sided defeat against them in the same fixture down under.

Notably, in the T20 World Cup 2022, India posted a below-par total of 168/6 in their allotted overs in the semifinal at the Adelaide Oval. In the run chase, England were clinical with the bat, overhauling the target in just 17 overs with ten wickets in hand, thanks to the unbeaten opening stand between the captain Jos Buttler and Alex Hales.

A decade before this, India demolished England by 90 runs in the T20 World Cup 2012 clash at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. After posting a score of 170/4 on the board, thanks to the contributions from Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricket team successfully defended the runs with quality spells from Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, and Piyush Chawla.

During the year 2009, neither India nor England were amongst the top teams in T20I cricket, but still, their battle at the Lord’s in London produced a thrilling spectacle for the fans in the T20 World Cup. The Indian cricket team restricted England to 153/7 in their allotted overs with quality spells from Harbhajan Singh and Ravindra Jadeja, but they failed to chase it down, losing the contest by three runs.

One of the most epic T20 World Cup battles between India and England went down at the Kingsmead in Durban in 2007, wherein Yuvraj Singh’s six sixes in an over propelled the team to 218/4 in their allotted overs. In response, England batted admirably, but they went down under the pressure of the required run rate, suffering an 18-run defeat.
