India’s two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu started her campaign with a straight set win at the Indonesia Open 2023 on June 13, Tuesday. The Indian ace avenged her consecutive losses against Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia to advance to Round of 16 of the Super 1000 tournament.
The World No. 13 ranked Indian star who named to lead the Indian contingent alongside HS Prannoy, beat the world ranked no. 9 in a total of 38 minutes in straight sets 21-19, 21-15 to make a place in the RO16 on the back of a dominant display.
The Indian ace shuttler will now face TAI Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei. TAI is currently ranked number 3 in women’s singles and is coming after a dominant win over Han Yue of China 21-15, 21-17 at the Indonesia Open RO32.
The Indonesia Open 2023 will be played from June 13 till June 18 in the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta. The Day 1 of the ongoing Super 1000 tournament saw HS Prannoy of India beat World No. 11 Kenta Nishimoto 21-16, 21-14 to enter Round of 16. Meanwhile, doubles pair of MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila went down fighting to World No. 7 duo Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi 21-12, 6-21, 20-22.
