Former England captain Kevin Pietersen believes that South African all-rounder Chris Morris went for a lot more money that he would have ever paid for. Notably, Morris became the most expensive buy in this year's auction in February when RR purchased him for a whopping INR 16.25 crore. Pietersen believes that this huge sum has put him under enormous pressure to perform this season. He even went on to claim that the 33-year-old isn't even worthy of that much money.

"This is going to sound harsh, but he went for a lot more more money than I would have ever paid for, to be completely honest. I just don't think that he's worth that kind of number. I think there's pressure on him," Pietersen said on the IPL host broadcaster's network.
"He's not a first choice for the South African side. So, I think we're expecting too much. There's too much talked about him. I don't think he's the kind of guy that's going to consistently deliver. I mean this is with the greatest deal of respect," he added.
"There's nothing special about what he does, and if he does run in, he'll run in for two games. And then he'll go missing for a few games and it's not the kind of thing that you should be seeing. He has the attributes," he further said.
Morris' flop show vs RCB on Thursday
While Morris did become the team's saviour against DC, he failed to leave a mark against RCB on Thursday when the top-order had failed miserably. The right-handed batter managed just 10 runs from 7 deliveries and was even expensive with the ball, as he leaked runs at an economy of 12.70. Bangalore eventually registered a convincing win, courtesy Devdutt Padikkal's unbeaten 101 and skipper Virat Kohli's 72.
