They come, they fall and then they climb to the top. That’s a short summary of Mumbai Indians’ campaign every year in IPL. This year as well, the team started slow and were looking to peak when the tournament got suspended midway. They are currently in the fourth spot on the points table with four wins and three losses and will be eyeing the top spot when the tournament resumes on September 19.

Let’s take a quick look at their campaign so far:

Match -1 RCB vs MI

A similar tale!

Mumbai Indians again began their campaign with a loss. In their first match of the season, Mumbai lost to Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore. Batting first, MI scored a modest total of 159, which RCB chased down at the death.

Match 2 – MI vs KKR

Dominance continues!

Mumbai enjoys an incredible record against Kolkata Knight Riders and they extended their lead with another win against the east side. Put on to bat, MI’s batting again faltered, and they managed to score just 152. But the bowlers made sure the total was enough as Spinner Rahul Chahar picked four wickets to restrict KKR to 142/7 in 20 overs.

Match 3: MI vs SRH

Bowlers on top again!

MI followed the same pattern and set the target for Warner and Co. MI reached 150/5 at the end of 20 overs. The bowlers again rose to the occasion and made the chase difficult for SRH. Boult and Chahar picked three wickets each MI won by 13 runs.

Match 4: MI vs DC

Learner became the master!

Coming on the back of two consecutive wins, a confident MI again batted first but this time failed to reach the 140-run mark. The team managed to score just 137/9 in their 20 overs which proved to be wasn’t enough as DC’s heavy line-up chased down the target quite easily.

Match 5: PBKS vs MI

Gayle Storm!

Punjab Kings won the toss and put MI to bat. Apart from Rohit’s fifty, none of the other batsmen managed to rotate the strike as the team scored 131/6 in the 20 overs.

It was an easy chase for PBKS as KL Rahul and Chris Gayle smashed them all around the park.

Match 6: MI vs RR

Mumbai’s “Halla Bol”!

MI won the toss, but this time decide to chase. RR's top four shone and the team managed to put on 171/4. MI's batting finally hit the track as Quinton de Kock scored an unbeaten 70 to take MI to their third win of the season.

Match 7: CSK vs MI

A classic “El-Clasico”!

Mumbai again decided to field first, and CSK made them regret and the Dhoni-led side scored a mammoth 218/4 from their allotted 20 overs. But Pollard’s 34-ball 87 created havoc and helped MI to a stunning four-wicket win over CSK.
