Preview

The 25th match of IPL 2022 will have Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. While Hyderabad are coming on the back of a win, Kolkata lost their last match against Delhi. KKR failed to chase 216 and were bowled out for 171. On the other hand, SRH successfully chased 163 and 155 in their last two games. The Williamson-led side is slowly getting their momentum. KKR are at the second position in the points table whereas SRH sit at no. 8.

Pitch Report

The Brabourne Stadium pitch has been a batting paradise with an average first innings total going over 190. Neither spinner nor pacers have enjoyed any advantage on the pitch. Spinners have got a little bit of help though. So, SRH vs KKR is expected to be a high-scoring game.

Team Analysis

Sunrisers Hyderabad:

The 2016 champions struggled with their combination in the last season and the story remains the same this season as well. Although they have won two games on the trot, a lot of things need to be fixed. Two of their best players in the first four games, Washington Sundar and Rahul Tripathi were injured in their last game against GT. Williamson scored a half-century, but it was not one of the best of knocks he can play. Abhishek Sharma too got going against CSK and GT, but his initial struggles are a bit worrying. The bowling department has done decently but has not looked threatening. So, it remains to be seen if SRH can continue the winning streak.

Abhishek Sharma, Kane Williamson (c), Rahul Tripathi, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Aiden Markram, Shashank Singh, Shreyas Gopal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen, Kartik Tyagi, T Natarajan

Kolkata Knight Riders:

Even with a change in leadership, Kolkata have continued from where they left last season. Barring the top order, every other player has performed. Shreyas Iyer redeemed himself against Delhi but he has not looked that comfortable. KKR's bowling has been saving them but that too faced some hammering against Delhi. As a unit, they will try to come good against SRH and win the game. Ajinkya Rahane looks set to be replaced. Baba Indrajith can be a feasible option with Venkatesh Iyer at the top. Or KKR can once again play that Sunil Narine card.

Venkatesh Iyer, Baba Indrajith, Shreyas Iyer (c), Nitish Rana, Sam Billings (wk), Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Sunil Narine, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Rasikh Salam

Match Prediction

Conclusion

Although Sunrisers Hyderabad have the momentum on their side, KKR look like a better team on any given day.
