Preview
The two new entrants into the Indian Premier League (IPL) have taken the tournament by storm. Both Lucknow and Gujarat have almost sealed a berth in the playoffs with their consistent performances. They sit at the top two positions in the points table. Now, the two teams will be up against each other to decide who qualifies for the knockout stage first. In their previous encounter in IPL 2022, Hardik Pandya's Gujarat Titans emerged victorious. So, it will be interesting to see if KL Rahul's Lucknow avenge their last defeat. The momentum is with Lucknow with them winning their last four games while Gujarat have lost two games on the trot.
Pitch Report
The MCA Stadium pitch is a batting paradise with the ball coming nicely onto the bat. The average first innings score at the venue this season has been 174. For bowlers, pacers have had some help when they have used variations. So, the same is expected for the match between LSG and GT.
Team Analysis
Lucknow Super Giants:
The KL Rahul-led side has won four games on the trot and thus won't bother making any changes to the playing eleven. However, the management will look to make some amends in the batting order. It seems Marcus Stoinis' batting order has not been decided by the management as he is being used as a floater. Other than that, Lucknow don't have many concerns to address. The openers, Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul are doing their job. Deepak Hooda looks good in his new role at No.3. Ayush Badoni is still learning to finish games while Jason Holder is providing a couple of lusty blows when needed. In bowling, Mohsin Khan has been a revelation.
SportsTiger Playing XI of LSG
Quinton de Kock (wk), KL Rahul (c), Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, Ayush Badoni, Jason Holder, Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan
Gujarat Titans:
Gujarat Titans have lost two games, both because of poor shows with the bat. Against Punjab, GT failed to post a fighting total while against Mumbai, they failed to chase it down despite a solid start by the openers. Hardik Pandya being out of touch is not helping GT at all. The captain has looked troubled in the last few games as he has failed to score big. David Miller and Rahul Tewatia also seem to be going through hiccups as they have not looked their usual self while finishing the innings. In bowling, Rashid Khan among wickets was a positive sign for GT. The vice-captain will look to contribute more in the upcoming games.
SportsTiger Playing XI of GT
Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill, Sai Sudarshan, Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Pradeep Sangwan, Lockie Ferguson, Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Shami
Match Prediction
