Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has already started training for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Although there is time aplenty for the new edition of the Indian T20 league, Dhoni prefers to stay prepared before the season kicks off. Ever since the former India captain hung his boot from international cricket, Dhoni starts training months before the start of the new season to stay relevant.

Pictures and videos of Dhoni training at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi have now trended online. The CSK captain was seen working on his batting skills.

Dhoni would like to turn things around for CSK when the four-time champions turn up at IPL 2023. The last edition of the Indian T20 league was not as they would have wanted. At the start of the season, Dhoni handed the reins to Ravindra Jadeja. The all-rounder led the team for eight games but looked helpless at times. It also seemed to affect his individual performance. Hence, Jadeja gave up the captaincy and Dhoni was at the helm again.

The second most successful captain in IPL did win a few games post regaining leadership but it was not enough for Chennai to progress to the playoffs. The four-time champions had a forgettable campaign, finishing in the penultimate position with four wins from 14 fixtures.

Much to the delight of his fans, Dhoni has confirmed that he will continue to be a part of the CSK side for IPL 2023. The Chennai-based franchise tweeted earlier this month to suggest that their skipper will play in front of their home crowd once again as IPL will return to its origins home and away format.
