The two-time champions will be hosting the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday (April 6) this week. KKR will be playing at the magnificent Eden Gardens after a lengthy gap of 1439 days. The fans there will be ecstatic to see the Knight Riders after this huge gap.

Talking about the team’s performance so far in the tournament, KKR are coming from a rain-curtailed defeat against the Punjab Kings. The Nitish Rana-led side need to resolve their top order woes, as they lack a good opener who can score the big runs in the powerplay. However, the side boasts some of the great all-rounders in the form of Andre Russell, Sunil Narine and Venkatesh Iyer and will miss the services of Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. The team is still taking time to adjust to the sudden captaincy change and will be hoping for a change in their fortunes in this game.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore on the other hand, had an absolutely contrasting first match. The opening pair of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis took down MI’s inexperienced bowling attack. They together put a massive opening stand of 148 runs and sealed the game with 8 wickets to spare. The participation of Reece Topley is still in doubt due to the injury he suffered while playing the previous match. It will be interesting to see how the KKR openers approach Mohammad Siraj as he had wreaked havoc the last few times the two teams met.
