Virat Kohli came on board once again to help Royal Challengers Bengaluru win the game in a thrilling contest against Punjab Kings on Monday at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. In a challenging chase of 177 on an unusual two-paced Bengaluru pitch, the former RCB skipper plundered 77 in just 49 balls to guide the home team to a maiden victory in the 17th season.
Notably, there were questions about his place in the T20I team over his safe-play approach in the era where batters need to slog from the first ball they face. However, on Monday after his sensational knock, Kohli silenced all the critics with his innings and his fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to ask his doubters.
Following the game, in a post-match presentation ceremony, Kohli jokingly fires back at his critics who questioned his name in the probable squad for the T20 World Cup in the USA and America. Answering the broadcaster Harsha Bhogle, Kohli said, "I know my name is now attached to just promoting the game in different parts of the world when it comes to T20 cricket. I’ve still got it, I guess."
