IPL fans are waiting for the 2025 season to begin and watch their favorite team play. However, fans of Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants may be disappointed. According to reports, both teams were supposed to clash on April 6 but will have to reschedule the match due to security reasons. Both teams were scheduled to play at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, but the day clashes with the Ram Navami festival. This occasion comes with a challenge for the authorities, as the day will see many religious processing passes across Kolkata. The report further states that the Kolkata police expressed their inability to provide enough security to the match venue. Thus, raising concerns over, the match to be played.

Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) officials replied after speaking with the state's Sports Minister, Aroop Biswas, who has given the CAB his support and has stated that he will consult with the Kolkata Police to come up with a viable solution. Given the hype surrounding the KKR vs LSG match, which has grown in prominence as a result of Lucknow's ownership links with Kolkata businessman Sanjiv Goenka and the team's recent recruitment of star player Rishabh Pant, it seems to be a challenging task for the authorities.

Schedule conflict is not a new thing in IPL

IPL has seen many such match rescheduling events due to certain reasons. In 2024, a similar event occurred when KKR's match coincided with Ram Navami, resulting in rescheduling. As cricket fans anxiously await the event, the risk of another change looms unless a solution is found through partnership with local authorities.

Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane has been named captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, with Venkatesh Iyer serving as vice-captain. The team will begin its training at Eden Gardens, gearing up for an exciting season. The 18th edition of the IPL will start on March 22, with the opening match will be played against KKR and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
