Chuba Akpom, an English international, who played as a forward for the Dutch club FC Ajax, has finally made a move Ipswich Town. The 29-year-old, who was an Arsenal academy graduate, made his senior debut for the club in 2013 featuring in several domestic and European matches, has been loaned out to many clubs like Brentford, Coventry City, Nottingham Forest, Hull City, Brighton & Hove Albion and the Belgian team Sint-Truiden. While the forward signed for Ajax in 2023, he was loaned out to FC Lille in the following year.
But, the English forward is now set for another loan spell in the Championship as Ipswich Town have recently announced the signing of the 29-year-old. Akpom will be the sixth new addition to the Ipswich Town squad as they look forward to regaining their place in the Premier League. The attacking forward had scored about 21 goals for FC Ajax before he joined the French team Lille in the January transfer window of 2025.
I have always thought that Ipswich would suit my style: Chuba Akpom
Ipswich Town will be hopeful to have found the missing puzzle in their attack following the departure of Liam Delap to Chelsea. Akpom has built a reputation for himself in the Championship previously as he was the Golden Boot winner at Middlesbrough, where he scored 28 Championship goals in the 2022-23 campaign. The striker is likely to make his debut for Ipswich town in their Carabao Cup fixture against Bromley.
Following his arrival at Ipswich Town during an interview with the Town TV, the 29-year-old stated, “I was really excited when I heard of the interest and I’m delighted to have joined a club with such big ambitions. I watch a lot of football and have always thought Ipswich would suit my style, so this move makes perfect sense.” The striker further added that he is looking forward to bringing the winning mentality in the squad and will help the team as much as he can.
