India made a comeback in the ongoing T20 series against England with a win on Sunday. The men in blue secured a massive 8-wicket victory. Following the win in toss, skipper Virat Kohli had opted to bowl first, and the decision turned out to favour the hosts. Within the first over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bagged Jos Buttler for a duck. However, the Englishmen then started their innings well with Jason Roy. The opener went on to hit 46 runs in 35 balls before getting trapped by Washington Sundar. But then, Roy's departure saw rest of the team crumble quickly.
While no other batsman had to return to pavilion without adding runs on the board, England slowed down considerably. Even the hitters of the team - Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes could not get back the momentum. The skipper Morgan added 28 runs from 20 balls and Stokes had to walk back to England camp with just 24 runs from 21 balls. With all stars departing without making any impact, England ended their 20 overs with 164/6 on the scoreboard.
Ishan Kishan - Rise of a hero
Now it was time for India to perform with willow and get the revenge of loss in the first game. However, the innings did not start as expected, and KL Rahul also became a duck dismissal for hosts in the first over. Losing first wicket early on often puts batsman at the other end in pressure. But, Ishan Kishan, who had donned national jersey for the first time, had other thoughts. The Jharkhand stalwart went on to play a 'man of the match' innings for many, as he smashed 56 runs from 32 balls comprising of 5 fours and 4 maximums.
The youngster was well-supported by skipper Virat Kohli in his tracks, who also completed his half-century and became the first batsman to complete 3000 T20I runs. The captain played a responsible 73* knock from 46 balls to guide the hosts to a well-deserved 7-wicket win. Following the bounce back win, India have now equalized the series 1-1 with 3 games remaining. It will be interesting to see what approach does the team management take from here. Will the debutants feature in the squad once more? Or will the skipper look back upon some different strategy to get the lead in the series with the next game.
