With India playing the last T20I series ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, set to be played in West Indies and the USA, the inaugural champions will aim put their best team, eyeing to end the trophy drought this time. With the side calling in Sanju Samson, Jitesh Sharma for the Afghanistan T20Is, and the Rishabh Pant also looking to make a comeback in competitive cricket, India seems to have options for their wicketkeeper-batter position.

Speaking of the same, Head Coach Rahul Dravid has dropped major hint on who could be there for the marquee event. He even cleared that Ishan Kishan is still in the mix, along with Pant, Samson, KL Rahul and others.
“We’ve got quite a few keeping options. We saw a couple of guys in this series, whether it is Sanju or Jitesh. You speak of Rahul, there is Ishan, Rishabh …. all of them are in the mix. We just have to see how things pan out in the course of next few months and then we can take a call what’s best way to go,” Head Coach Rahul Dravid said after the Afghanistan series.
It is to be noted that Kishan was not included in the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. While several reports suggested that the Indian keeper-batter was dropped due to disciplinary action, Dravid later confirmed that he had not made himself available for the series at that point of time. Kishan had withdrawn from the South Africa Test series, citing personal reasons.
While the 25-year-old has not been named in the squad for the first two Tests against England, KL Rahul, KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel are the designated keepers for the upcoming series.
