In big blow to Team India, pacer Ishant Sharma has suffered an injury to his bowling hand as he was spotted with a splint on his right hand ahead of the upcoming England series. A splint is a piece of medical equipment used to keep an injured body part from moving and to protect it from any further damage. Splint is also used to stabilize a broken bone.

Although the BCCI is yet to give any official update on Ishant Sharma’s injury, the condition of Ishant's hand doesn't look good. The news was shared by BCCI’s senior content producer Rajal Arora through an Instagram story.

In the image shared by Rajal, one can see the middle fingers of Ishant’s bowling hand being heavily bandaged and the pacer is looking at his injured hand with a frown on his face. The lanky pacer suffered the injury during the 45th over of New Zealand’s second innings when Ross Taylor smashed a powerful straight drive off Ishant Sharma's bowling. Although Sharma made a superb effort to deny Taylor what looked like a certain boundary, he injured his fingers while stopping the ball. Sharma soon left the field to receive treatment and his over was completed by Jasprit Bumrah.

After the defeat in the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand,Virat Kohli and his men next take on England in the 5-match Test series, which starts in August. As a result, Ishant has over 6 weeks to recover from the injury and be fit for the Test series. But it remains to be seen how much time the pacer will need to get back to full fitness following the injury setback.
