Before the start of the match 57th of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against the hosts Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday, May 7, MS Dhoni, the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), spoke at toss time about how the Eden Gardens in Kolkata feels like a home ground for him. The 43-year-old remarked that he has played a lot of cricket at the aforementioned venue and nearby areas from under-age cricketing days and afterwards.
Prior to MS Dhoni reminiscing about his time at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, it was KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane, who won the toss and decided to bat first against CSK in the IPL 2025 clash. While MS Dhoni led CSK are out of the race to make the playoffs this season, KKR are firmly in the hunt to finish in the top four, but they need to earn the win on the night, to get a step closer to achieving it in their pursuit to defend the coveted title.
As per the live blog on Cricbuzz, MS Dhoni was quoted as saying, “I have played a lot of cricket here while growing up, like a home ground for the amount of cricket I have played here. When it was Zonal trophy, a few office leagues, overall I have played a lot of cricket here and nearby.”
He also talked about the IPL 2025 campaign as well, “What's important is to get answers for the next year. What hasn't gone well for us in the tournament. Trying to get those answers, our middle order batting and bowling solutions. We are giving chances to players, but we want a good playing XI or XII.”
