After opting to bat first, Team India suffered a massive batting collapse as they were soon reduced to 49/5 in 8.3 overs.
Former India skipper Virat Kohli, who looked in sublime form since Asia Cup 2022 also failed against South Africa after he got dismissed at the score of 12 runs from 11 balls. While India appeared in a dangerous situation against Proteas, 30-year-old Suryakumar Yadav came as savior with an instrumental knock.
