India and Pakistan locked horns in what was the opening fixture for both teams at the Asia Cup 2022 on 28 August. The Men in Blue came out victorious in a thrilling game and gave immense joy to their fans back in the country. Now, the two teams are set to take on each other once again exactly a week after they first met. As India and Pakistan finished in the first two positions in Group A, the two will play each other for the second time on 4 September.
The hype around the game has already started to build up. India coach Rahul Dravid attended the pre-match press conference on Saturday ahead of the big encounter. Dravid was bombarded with questions but the former India batter did what he used to do during his playing days. Dravid gracefully answered all the questions and also left the reporters in splits with a quirky response to a query.
When one of the reporters compared the fast bowlers of the two teams and emphasized that Pakistani pacers consistently bowl at 145kph+, Dravid gave a really humorous answer. He said that the Indian pacers may not be glamorous as their counterparts but they surely are capable of producing results and it’s the result that matters at the end of the day. He also mentioned a four-letter word that starts with 'S' while making the comparison.
“Of course, they are a very good bowling side and they did well. But our bowlers also did a decent job by restricting them to 147. It may reflect in numbers that someone bowled at 145 or 147kph, but at the end of the day, it’s bowling analysis that matters. Skills are judged by the results you produce,” said Dravid at the presser.
“Bowling analysis of our bowlers was also pretty good. I respect their bowling but I believe we have a really good bowling attack that produces results. It might not be as…I want to use a word but can’t. The word in my mind is coming out of my mouth, but I can't use it. It’s a four-letter word that starts with ‘S’, but ok. The point I am trying to make is that it might not look as glamorous but in terms of production of results, we have got some guys who produce results.”
Although Dravid did not use the word, everyone present in the hall understood that it was ‘sexy’.
