Indian tennis legend Rohan Bopanna ended his glorious Davis Cup career after India's emphatic win over Morocco in Lucknow. Bopanna, partnering with Yuki Bhambri, had a straight-set triumph over Elliot Benchetrit and Younes Lalami Laaroussi at the Mini Stadium in a match lasting just over an hour with a 6-2, 6-1 win.

After this final triumph,  Bopanna placed his India shirt on the court and called a curtain on his Davis Cup career which included 50 matches in 33 ties, winning 23 rubbers, including 13 in doubles.  Bopanna acknowledged his family and fans for their appreciation and blew kisses towards the stands.

Talking about this moment,  Rohan Bopanna expressed gratitude towards the audience in attendance and reflected back on his journey. He said,  "I felt like home today as everyone is here to support me. My family, friends, and evens fans, everyone cheered for me. It’s an emotional moment for me, I can’t forget this day ever.”

“It’s a long and fantastic journey in Davis Cup after playing my first match in 2002. I always tried to give the best for my country. Playing for India has always been the biggest moment of my career. I am happy to be going home with great memories," he added.

Further in his farewell speech, Bopanna talked about his decision will allow youngsters to represent India on the highest level and help him spend some time with his family.  “Time has come when I need to vacate the seat for someone new. There are many youngsters who are ready to grab the spot. For sure, I am going to miss this all, but at the same time it will also allow me to spend quality time with family,” said Bopanna.
