India’s boxer Saweety Boora is one of the finest athletes that the country has produced in last few years. Having also played Kabaddi early in her career, the 28-year-old decided to pursue her career as a boxer and has brought a lot of laurels for India across the globe. After winning a historic silver medal in the light heavyweight at the 2014 AIBA Women’s Boxing Championships in Jeju City, Saweety Boora won silver medal at the 2015 Asian Women's Amateur Boxing Championships in Wulanchabu. She also clinched bronze medal in the 2021 Asian Championships held in Dubai.
I left the camp midway: Saweety
With so many achievements already to her name, there is one thing that Saweety has been waiting for quite a long time - Olympics. In 2018, she changed her weight class from light heavyweight (81 kg) to middleweight (75 kg) since the former is not part of Summer Olympics. However, despite all her efforts and hard work, Boora failed to qualify for Tokyo Olympics 2020.
The 28-year-old was extremely unhappy when she was not allowed to compete for the qualifying event of Olympics as she left the Indian camp midway. In an exclusive interview series by SportsTiger in association with Sspark, Saweety said, "I left the ongoing camp midway because I was not given the opportunity to compete in Olympics qualifying tournament. What is the use if there is no Olympics? I have played at various international and Asian tournaments and won medals and the only medal that I am missing is that of Olympics."

Saweety is eyeing 2024 Olympics
The Indian boxer admitted that she was really disappointed after missing out on the flight to Tokyo. However, Saweety is not ready to give up on her dream as she now eyes the 2024 Olympics set to be held in Paris. She said, "I still did not get the opportunity to compete in the event. “Maybe God wants me to work harder and I definitely will. It’s a matter of only three more years and I will put in more efforts (to qualify for 2024 Olympics). I am one of those athletes who can work day and night to fulfil my dreams.”
