Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has finally commented on his so-called rivalry with the Paris Saint German forward Kylian Mbappe. Notably, Norwegian striker is enjoying a blistering start to his Premier League 2022-23 season since his highly anticipated £51.5 million summer move to Manchester City.

The 22-year-old has already scored 18 goals in 13 Premier League games, and  is on course to become the third player to win the Golden Boot in his debut top-flight season. Following his impressive performance in the Premier League, experts in the business are comparing him with Kylian Mbappe.

In his recent chat with former Liverpool midfielder Jan Molby, Haaland spoke about his comparison with Kylian Mbappe.

"It’s impossible to say. I don't like to compare myself with others. I think you need to be your own player when it comes to that, so I don't like to compare or anything with that. I think the media has been doing that with Ronaldo and Messi for the last ten years and I think they have been pushing each other as well. I think it's been a positive thing," said Erling Haaland.

The City striker further claimed that Barcelona vs Madrid has been a 'perfect rivalry,' but he admitted that he is not aware of his rivalry with Mbappe. Earlier, Mbappe made shockwaves by suggesting that Haaland is not quite on his level yet, saying the latter needs to show more longevity before being labelled football's next big star.

"It’s his second year, we are getting to know him. It is the beginning for him. I am happy for him, for what he is doing. I have played upfront; I have played on the left and on the right. In all humility, I don’t think everyone is capable of changing positions like this every year and maintaining a great performance at the highest level. I have managed to work on my weak points, but above all to perfect my strengths, because they have always told me that it is through your strengths that you are going to win," Mbappe said.
