The Men in Blue, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, defeated South Africa by seven runs to get their hands on the T20 World Cup in Barbados, bringing home their second T20 title.

However, on the same day, two of the star players of the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli also announced their retirement from the shortest format, making way for the young batch to take it forward.

Since it has gone live, the post has garnered over 890K likes and over 35.5K comments. Going back to the T20 World Cup triumph, Team India won the toss and elected to bat first. Facing the Protea firepower in the summit clash, Keshav Maharaj removed skipper Rohit Sharma and later dismissed Rishabh Pant. Suryakumar Yadav, too failed to deliver under pressure and fell to Kagiso Rabada.

After three quick fall of wickets, Virat Kohli and Axar Patel rescued the side and eventually helped to post 176 runs on the board. In reply to this, Protea kept the run chase in line despite losing two quick wickets. With wickets falling at key intervals, Suryakumar Yadav’s catch near the boundary rope proved to be a game-changer, helping India near victory. Eventually, the Men in Blue restricted South Africa at 169/8 in the 20 overs and etched history by securing their second T20 World Cup title.
