French striker Karim Benzema put an end to all the rumours that were circulating regarding his retirement from professional football. The 37-year-old denied the retirement rumours by labelling them as ‘nonsense’ and also said that he could still play for few more years. Benzama was recently seen in action for Al-Ittihad in a fixture against Al-Hilal at the King Cup on January 7. He struck twice as Al-Ittihad ended in same score as Al Hilal and later went on to win the penalty shootout.

Recently, there have been several rumours going around that Karim Benzama is planning to bid adieu to football after the end of the ongoing season. However, Benzama denied all the rumours claiming them as false. “No, no. This is the word of someone unknown. Nonsense. I have no restrictions that prevent me from saying that in two, three, or four years I will stop playing football. Thank God, I feel good. My body is fine. I am preparing well, and we will see how I feel each year," Benzama was quoted as saying by FootBoom.

The time will come to see: Karim Benzama wants to return in Real Madrid

Karim Benzama also showed his interest in returning back to his former club Real Madrid in the future. Benzama had 14-year long stint with Madrid from 2009 to 2023, where he scored 239 goals in 439 appearances. After that, Benzema joined Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad in 2023. However, when he was asked about returning to Real Madrid, Benzema showed his interest in joining the Premier League club again.

"Yes, of course, why not? For now, I am in Jeddah and I am doing very well. The time will come to see how life is, and I’m sure I will be close to Madrid,” Karim Benzema said. Speaking further, the French striker also revealed that he talked with his former Madrid teammates and also had a chat with Vinicius Junior regarding Ballon d’Or.

"He (Vinicius) should not worry, he must not lower his intensity because he is the best in the world and one day he will win the Ballon d'Or,” Benzema said.
