On Sunday, July 13, World No. 1 Jannik Sinner of Italy etched history as he became the first from his country to win at the All England Club. The 23-year-old, who came into the Wimbledon 2025 Championships after going down to Carlos Alcaraz in final of the Roland Garros 2025, avenged his defeat, handing the Spaniard his third consecutive Wimbledon title.

Coming into the finale after defeating 24-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals, Sinner downed Alcaraz in a four-set thriller with the scoreline reading, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, in a battle which lasted for three hours and four minutes at the Centre Court.

Jannik Sinner becomes first Italian to win Wimbledon title

The match began in a predictable fashion, meaning those who held the serve, were on top in the game. Alcaraz, who started with the serve, showed his might before Sinner finally found a break point and turned the tide of the game in his favour. Alcaraz then changed his gears and claimed the opening set by 6-4 margin.

The Italian however remained unfazed and playing his quick game, took the second set by 6-4. There was no looking back for the Italian after this as he then went onto claim the next two sets despite a neck and neck battle and eventually sealed a win to get his fourth Grand Slam title.
