India’s star bowler Jasprit Bumrah is likely to make his comeback into the international circuit, reportedly in the Ireland series. India is set to play Ireland in August 2023, which will include three T20I matches in Malahide. The Indian pacer last appeared in the Indian colours in the Asia Cup, which saw India being knocked out of the tournament.

According to a top board official who is keeping an eye on the seamers' rehabilitation, there are many encouraging signals that Bumrah will return for the Ireland series.

“Jasprit Bumrah is looking very good for the Ireland series in August this year. It will be a big boost to the Indian cricket team and will also allow Bumrah time in the middle after the long injury lay-off. If everything stays on course, a Bumrah at peak fitness is likely to take the field,” a BCCI source told News18.

Bumrah has been out since September of last year due to back problems. After missing the Asia Cup and with the T20 World Cup in sight, he was forced to play against Australia at home, but it backfired as it aggravated his condition, keeping him out of important series and matches like the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series and the WTC final. In addition, he also missed the entire IPL 2023 season for the Mumbai Indians.

Bumrah’s return to the Indian colours will be a great addition to the team, as the team lacks a fast bowler of Bumrah’s quality. India last suffered a massive 209-run defeat in the World Test Championship Final against Australia.
