The three stars on the Indian cricket team’s jersey denote the three World Cup triumphs for the nation in its rich sporting history. In 1983, Kapil Dev led Men in Blue to their first ICC Cricket World Cup win, then, 24 years later, MS Dhoni became the first captain to bring home the ICC T20 World Cup, following it up with the ICC Cricket World Cup success in 2011.
One of the most well-known personalities on Twitter, named Johns, sent out a peculiar tweet, which read, "Why are there jerseys with 3 stars available at stores? Why have players been wearing them? #IndiaWCJerseyLeak”.
It kickstarted a massive debate on Twitter about whether India’s jersey for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 will have two stars or three stars.
Then, a user on the microblogging site claimed that the images of the jersey of Team India for the ICC Cricket World Cup have been leaked, without sharing any of them.
Another Twitter user who claimed to have posted the leaked jersey of the Men in Blue for the ODI World Cup, had two stars in it.
One of the Twitter users asked if the Indian jersey with two stars is new or not.
Finally, Trendulkar, another big personality on Twitter, quoted the tweet of Johns and said, “Yes because the 3rd star is for the 2007 T20 World Cup. But since abhi wala is the ODI World Cup, they are wearing 2-star jersey. #IndiaWCJerseyLeak”.
Whether the jersey leak of Team India is real or not, the excitement among the Indian fans for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 at home, is definitely starting to gain traction. The quadrennial spectacle promises to be the biggest cricket tournament in history, with millions of viewers slated to attend the matches in various stadiums across the country in the month of October and November.
