All cricketing fans were very confused when the IPL franchise Mumbai Indians paid ₹8 crores on England fast bowler Jofra Archer who has been suffering from a troubled elbow after undergoing surgery. Mumbai Indians owner Akash Ambani talked about how Archer has been picked up as an investment that will provide dividends in the next season.

He said, "Jofra has been a player Mahela gave his first professional debut to and since then we have been thinking about them as a pair. So happy that we got them together. Although he is going to play next year, we are very happy to have Jofra and Bumrah make a lethal pair for our bowling attack,” Ambani said during a break.

But recently speculations about Archer’s return have gone up as he posted a video of him bowling on Instagram. The official Mumbai Indians Instagram page also commented on the post saying, “Breathing Fire ?”. Hence fans got very excited and started asking Archer to hopefully return for IPL.

The great bowlers of Mumbai

Alongside Jofra Archer, Mumbai has also picked up English fast bowler Tymal Mills who has been a T20 mercenary and has played cricket across the world. Mills is known for his beaming yorkers and slower balls. His addition to the team continues the MI tradition of picking up great fast bowlers.

Throughout the history of IPL, the Mumbai Indians have always maintained a great fast bowling contingent. In the first season, the franchise had the likes of Shaun Pollock, Ashish Nehra, Dilhara Fernando. Then in the next season, they brought on Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga, who went to become the best fast bowler in IPL history.

In recent years, the MI pace battery included stars like Jasprith Bumrah, Trent Boult, Mitchell McClenaghan who have helped them win the title five times. So the addition of Jofra Archer and Tymal Mills adds to the tradition of the Mumbai fast-bowling history.
