There are rumours that Jose Mourinho is in advanced negotiations to replace Thomas Tuchel as manager of Paris Saint-Germain. The Portuguese coach is now employed at AS Roma, but there are some questions regarding his future there because negotiations over his current contract, which is slated to expire in 2024, have not yet been finalised.
Following Christophe Galtier's underwhelming performance as manager of PSG, the club is once again searching for a new leader. Contact has reportedly been made with Mourinho's representative, Jorges Mendes, according to reports in France. The potential of him joining PSG before the 2023–24 season has apparently been discussed by PSG Director Luis Campos and his agency. It is believed that the former Chelsea and Tottenham manager can instill discipline in the PSG locker room and lead the Qatari-backed team to its first Champions League victory.
Mourinho, who joined Roma in 2021, guided the team to a European championship trophy last season after they won the Europa Conference League. In 34 games this season, Roma has won 17, lost ten and failed to win in their past four contests. Mourinho's team is currently seventh in the league standings.
PSG on the other hand, still has five games left to win their seventh Ligue 1 championship. The Parisians cannot afford any errors with a five-point lead over Marseille. Even if Galtier wins the competition, his position is in jeopardy. His squad had a good start, but they quickly lost steam and didn't play up to the level of football that was expected of them. Both, Champions League and the Coupe de France saw them eliminated in the Round of 16.
