In a recent development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India Women's squad for the upcoming tour of England. The tour includes a multi-format series in June and July this year with a Test match at Bristol starting things off on June 16. The fixtures for the tour were announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in April and also includes ODI and T20I series.
A 4-day Test followed by three ODIs and three T20Is
The teams will participate in a 4-day Test followed by three ODIs commencing on June 27. The three matches are set to be played at Bristol, Taunton, and Worcester. Both teams will then meet in the shortest format of the game, with the series beginning July 9 and the three venues being Northampton, Hove, and Chelmsford.
With Women's World Cup next year, England need to prepare well: ECB CEO
Talking about the importance of the series, ECB CEO Tom Harrison stated that with the ICC World Cup next year it is important that the side prepares well and the series against India and New Zealand serve in that regard.
"With the 2022 ICC Women's World Cup around the corner it is of paramount importance that our England team is able to prepare accordingly, and with the team, also due to travel to Pakistan in October we can look forward to an exciting 12 months of international women's cricket," Harrison was quoted.
