Australia's men's cricket team is going through a lean patch in the year 2021. After being handed a defeat by a young Indian side in Tests, they did not do well in the limited-overs format either. They lost the T20I series to the West Indies and now, they have been handed a 1-4 defeat by Bangladesh in the recently concluded T20I series. It has never happened before in the history of cricket.

It seems Australia's team management did not take the defeat easily. Coach Justin Langer and team manager Gavin Dovey burst out their anger at a CA staffer. Actually, they were upset about a video posted on the Cricket Australia website that had scenes from the Bangladesh camp celebrating their series win over Australia. In the two minutes long video, the Tigers are seen shouting and cheering in jubilation. Also, in the end, the video had a clip of the Bangladesh team singing their national anthem which did not go well with Langer and Dovey.

Gavin Dovey initially raised the matter with the staffer in a conversation that escalated after the latter stood his ground. Justin Langer, after getting to know about the incident, took aim at the staffer. He eventually discussed the matter to bid for a common ground which could not happen.

Team Manager addressed the public on the issue

Gavin Dovey did not hesitate to talk about the incident publicly. Earlier, the animated discussion between him and the staffer had taken place in front of a dozen people, for which Dovey took full responsibility. Justin Langer, however, decided not to make any comments.

“A healthy team environment includes the ability to have honest and frank discussion, whether it be between players, support staff or others within the team environment, which was the case here. There was a difference of opinion and we agreed to disagree on a particular matter. In hindsight, it was one of those instances which should have taken place in private. I take full ownership of that,” said Dovey.
