Indian Archer, Jyothi Surekha Vennam has marked her position in the final of the Women’s Compound Final at the Archery World Cup 2023. She registered the win over Great Britain's Ella Gibson with a 148-146 score line. Earlier today, she and Ojas Pravin brought home gold by defeating Chen Yi Hsuan and Chem Chieh Lun of Chinese Taipei 159-154 in the Compound Mixed Team Final.

In the semifinal, both the archers were tied at the end of the first four sets. But holding her nerve, Jyothi shot a perfect 30 in the final set, advancing to the final stage. She is now all set to take on Colombian Sara Lopez in the final.

The World Number one, Sara Lopez, on losing the semifinal to world number 11, Jyothi, lost her bronze to Italy’s Elisa Roner in a shoot off.

In the quarter final of the game, she had taken down Taja Gellenthien 147-142, by shooting 12 perfect 10s and five Xs from 15 arrows. She is the only Indian to remain in the medal hunt in the individual section as her compound teammates in both men’s and women’s sections couldn’t continue the race and made an early exit.

In the earlier rounds, the women’s trio of compound team events, Jyothi, Avneet Kaur and Aditi Swami were ousted by USA 225-233. On the other hand, the sixth seeded compound men’s team were defeated by Chinese Taipei 234-236 in their opening round.
