The IPL 2022 Mega Auction was concluded last weekend. A total of 204 players found a bidder including some young guns. On the other hand, some marquee players went unsold including the Australian duo of Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa. Both the players along with many other Australians failed to find a bidder. Franchises would have had their reasons to not go after these players but none of them have talked about leaving out these stars. '

However, Kane Richardson has come up with a possible reason that may have resulted in him and Adam Zampa going unsold at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The right-arm pacer believes that pulling out of the tournament midway during IPL 2021 may have been on teams' minds while their names came up at the mega auction. Notably, both Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa had decided to move out of RCB's bio-bubble in the league last year citing bubble fatigue.

While Richardson understood his omission, he was shocked to see Adam Zampa going unsold despite giving a terrific performance at the T20 World Cup. "I was definitely more shocked for him. To be brutally honest, when we left last year, in the circumstances early, I remember having a conversation with him. I said to him, look, this may come back and bite us, and at that time it wasn’t a priority for us to be there. We wanted to get back to Australia," the Aussie pacer said according to ESPNCricinfo.

"So, I think there’d be some kind of buyers that’d be pretty wary of picking us up thinking that we wouldn’t come again. I definitely think that’s a factor," he added.

I haven't spoken to anyone: Kane Richardson

While the Aussie guessed the possible reason for their omission, he made it clear that he has not got a word from anyone about the same and it's purely his guessing. “I’m just speaking on what I think would be a factor in it. I don’t know. I’ve never had a dialogue with a franchise or a person that says that’s what would be the case," he said.

He further added that him missing IPL 2022 due to his child's birth damaged his reputation and also played a role in this. "But I think I didn’t go the year before as well with the birth of my boy. So, my reputation probably is that in the last couple of years I haven’t gone so it’s obviously not something that I am," Richardson added.
