As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has reached its half-stage mark, in the 38th match, the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) will host their arch-rivals, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 20. However, both teams are coming into this match on a back of win in their previous matches respectively, they will be eager to carry this momentum further.
But ahead of this match, the Mumbai Indians have been handed a massive setback as they might miss the services of Karn Sharma. The veteran leg-spinner, who made his first appearance in MI’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, picked three wickets and was adjudged the winner of Player of the Match. While, his struggles weren’t noticed that day, but Sharma got a cut on his hand and had to be taken in medical care.
Not sure if he’s bowling or if he’s available: Santner on Karn Sharma
Addressing the pre-match press conference in Mumbai, veteran all-rounder Mitchell Santner shared a big update as he also confirmed that the leg-spinner has got some stitches on his hand. “He has got a couple of stitches in his hand. He’s here today, I’m not sure if he’s bowling or if he’s available for tomorrow, but it looked like a nasty little cut and it’s a shame,” Santner said at the pre-match press conference.
Speaking of the crucial match, which is often known as the ‘El Clasico’ of IPL, the Mumbai-based franchise have had an upper hand over their Chennai rivals. In the 38 matches played between the sides, MI have come out victorious 20 times whereas CSK have won 18 matches. Earlier this season, CSK defeated MI by four wickets when they hostsed the Hardik Pandya-led side in Chennai.
