While the Oklahoma City Thunder won their first NBA title, beating the Indian Pacers 4-3 on aggregate on late Sunday night, the basketball world also saw a massive turnaround with 15-time All-Star, Kevin Durant’s reported move to Houston Rockets. With the reports going rife, the superstar forward heads to Houston after spending less than three season with the Phoenix Suns.

With the Golden State Warriors fans hoping for a reunion with Durant after their early playoff exit, on Monday morning, those reports were quashed when the Phoenix Suns made a blockbuster trade. If reports are to be believed, Durant is heading to Houston, crushing hopes of several other teams including Miami, Minnesota.

Phoenix Suns trade Kevin Durant for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and No.10 draft pick: Reports

Prominent NBA insider, Shams Charania took to X to speak of this blockbuster deal, “The Phoenix Suns are trading two-time NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks.”

If the reports are to be believed, Durant departs Phoenix after a disappointing 2024-25 season, where they finished with a record of 36-46 and missed the Play-In Tournament. However, despite being aged 37, Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4-2 assists per game. He shot 52.7 per cent from the field and 43 per cent from three-point region.

Notably, the move is set to bring Durant back to Texas, where he played his one year of college basketball for the Longhorns. Houston will become his fifth franchise, joining SuperSonics (who became Oklahoma City Thunder), Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns.
