The scars of Ashes defeat will surely haunt England cricket for a long time. Ever since Joe Root led side lost the Ashes to Australia, the debate over prioritizing the quality of cricket in the country has started. Notably, England Cricket Board on Friday sacked the team's head coach Chris Silverwood.

Hours after Silverwood was sacked, batting great Kevin Pietersen lashed out at England Cricket Board by saying that he won't be taking any official responsibilities till the board and players promise to prioritize franchising county cricket in the country. Taking to Twitter, Pietersen wrote, "For those asking, I would NEVER take the England job until or unless they commit to franchising county cricket! If they don't and the mediocre county cricketers still stay as professionals, please don't expect different results."

Adding further, the batting legend also made it clear that he won't be even applying for the head coach role in the absence of Chris Silverwood. Replying to one of the user's queries over the same, KP answered by tweeting, "Nope."

Highlighting the quality of county cricket in the past, Kevin tweeted, "The standard of county cricket in the early 2000s was of an incredibly high standard! Not like today!"
