Left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed will not be a part of the majority of the 2022/23 edition of the Ranji Trophy. Khaleel’s domestic team, Rajasthan will begin their campaign against Goa on Tuesday (December 13).  Khaleel has had trysts with injuries in the last few years. He could feature in only seven games of IPL 2021 due to side strain.

Khaleel had a good IPL 2022, wherein he scalped 16 wickets. However, he missed few matches due to his hamstring this season as well.

The 25-year-old took to Twitter to share an update on his health and revealed that he will be missing the Ranji Trophy action due to his medical condition and will make a comeback once declared fit by the doctors. He expressed his gratitude to his well-wishers as well.

“Dear all, it’s very hard to stay away from cricket, It's unfortunate, but due to my medical condition, I would be missing most of the matches of the upcoming Ranji season. I am on the road to recovery and will be back in the side once deemed fit. I am grateful for all the wishes”, Khaleel tweeted.

After the IPL 2022, Khaleel featured in three games of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and secured four wickets in October. He then didn’t mark his presence in any of the games of Vijay Hazare Trophy.

In Khaleel’s absence, the onus will be on Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Aniket Choudhary to secure breakthroughs for the team.
