The Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue have resumed their practice ahead of the third Test against England in Rajkot. Since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named a 17-member squad for the remaining three Tests against England, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul’s participation has been subject to fitness clearance by the BCCI medical team.

But ahead of the third Test, which is scheduled to kickstart at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, a report by the Indian Express reveals that Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul will miss the third Test. As reported by the Indian Express, KL wasn’t found out to be fully fit, while Jadeja has received a green signal to take the field in the third Test.

It further added that the BCCI medical team has informed the selectors that KL Rahul’s recovery would be observed closely for one more week to take a call on his availability.

The Indian wicketkeeper-batter was ruled out of the second Test after he complained of quadriceps pain after England’s 28-run win in the opening Test in Hyderabad.

Devdutt Padikkal likely to replace KL Rahul for third Test

Reports further revealed that Devdutt Padikkal will replace KL Rahul in the squad for the Rajkot Test. The Karnataka batter recently scored 151 in Ranji match against Tamil Nadu. Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar was also spotted sitting on the sidelines of the match as he watched the crucial game.

Padikkal also scored 105, 65 and 21 in his three inning for India A in the two unofficial Tests against England Lions.
