The 2022 BWF World Tour is on, and the current stop is Suncheon, Korea. The Super 500 tournament has entered into the quarterfinals after the successful completion of the second round (Round of 16) on Wednesday. Badminton stars from Indian have also gone to Korea to prove their mettle. But a few of them will have to return early after facing defeats in the second round.

Young sensations like Lakshya Sen and Malivka Bansod were the prominent names who were defeated in their second round and will have to walk the exit door. Sen was outclassed by Shesar Hiren in straight games of 20-22, 9-21. Sen started well in the first game but eventually succumbed. Malika Bansod also had to face a defeat against sixth seed Pornpawee Chochuwang. The Thai shuttler beat Bansod 21-8, 21-14.

Meanwhile, experienced campaigners like Kidambi Srikanth and PV Sindhu have leapfrogged their opponents to book a spot for themselves in the quarters of the Super 500 tournament.

PV Sindhu had to face the challenge from Japanese shuttler Aya Ohori which she overcame with her sheer brilliance. The Indian ace beat Ohori in straight games of 21-15, 21-10 in just 37 minutes to pave herself the way to the last-eight stage. It was a neat performance from the two-time Olympic medalist. Fifth seed Kidambi Srikanth was also clinical against Israel's Misha Zilberman. The former world no.1 beat the Israeli 21-19, 21-6 in 33 minutes.

In the men's doubles category, MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila had to walk the exit door after they failed to complete the game against the Indonesian pair of Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan. The duo retired after being down 5-8 in first game. Meanwhile, the pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty got the better out of Yong Kai Terry and Loh Kean Hean. The Indian pair beat the Singapore duo 21-15, 21-19.
