Krafton might be planning something big for the BGMI esports scene. According to recent reports, a franchise league system similar to traditional sports titles could be introduced soon. This would bring a major change in how BGMI tournaments are structured and could provide long-term stability to teams and players.

Krafton Plans BGMI Franchise League?

According to Letsgrowesports, on 12 June 2025, Krafton held a meeting with some teams for the BGMI franchise league. The publisher has asked the teams for their details. However, Krafton has not said anything about the BGMI franchise league as of now.

The popular BGMI player and one of the best IGLs in India, Ammar Khan, aka “Destro,” also talked about the BGMI Franchise League in his recent live stream on YouTube. He said, “A franchise system in BGMI might actually happen. But if a franchise league comes to India, it will be introduced thoughtfully, with a proper roadmap. Just think about the kind of investments already being made by Indian organizations and how many more potential investors might step in because of this. The scene will become massive.”

Krafton has successfully hosted BGIS 2025 in Kolkata, and now BMPS 2025 will conclude in Delhi on July 6, wrapping up the H1 roadmap that was earlier announced by Krafton. If the franchise system is introduced, it might be revealed in the H2 roadmap. However, there hasn’t been any hint yet about when the H2 roadmap will be released.

What is a franchise league?

In simple terms, a franchise league in any sport or esports is where certain teams are given permanent slots to compete in the tournaments, so they don't need to qualify through open tournaments. These teams are usually backed by organizations or investors and stay in the league for multiple seasons. The prime example of this is the Indian Premier League (IPL), where 10 teams play each year, but players get chances according to the requirements and in auctions after a certain years.
