India's mystery spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been declared fit and is on his way to the Caribbean for the upcoming five-match T20I series against West Indies after being sidelined post-IPL due to an injury on his right hand. Notably, Kuldeep was ruled out of the five-match T20I series against South Africa after sustaining an injury in the nets ahead of the series opener.

While the Shikhar Dhawan-led side is currently locking horns with West Indies in a three-match ODI series, players who are part of the T20I leg of the tour have started taking flights for the Caribbean nation. Players like Kuldeep Yadav, Dinesh Karthik, R Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi and Harshal Patel, who returned home after the conclusion of the England series left the country from Mumbai on Sunday. Kuldeep updated about his departure via an Instagram post as he shared a picture of himself heading for the flight.

Meanwhile, captain Rohit Sharma and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will join the squad from England. Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and former captain Virat Kohli have been granted rest from the entire tour. Meanwhile, KL Rahul, who was recovering from his groin injury at National Cricket Academy after sustaining an injury on the eve of South Africa series, was supposed to join the boys for five-match T20I series, but recently tested positive for Covid-19.

While Rahul was about to appear for a fitness test on Sunday, he could not do so after returning a positive result for the COVID-19 virus. At present, he is going through a mandatory 7-day quarantine period until July 26.

Speaking of India's ODI leg of the tour, the Shikhar Dhawan-led side played a close contest in the first match as the visitors clinched a three-run victory in the series opener. Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan was named Player of the Match for his magnificent knock with the bat. Currently, the second ODI is underway at the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
