Tactical Analysis

Real Madrid:

Carlo Ancelotti isn't a man who is full of tactics, but he can implement the right tactic needed at that specific time to churn out matches. He starts with a traditional 4-3-3 attacking formation with Courtois at the back. His fullbacks, Carvajal and Mendy, act as inverted forwards most of the time and are engaged in build-up play on the wings.

One of Militao or Alaba plays as a ball-carrying CB while the other stays back. Kroos takes the role of Deep-Lying Playmaker who builds up play from the back. Casemiro slots in the gaps between opposition CB and Modric/Valverde acts as the Box-to-Box attacking midfielder in an advanced position.

Additionally, Vinicius and Rodrygo fully focus on wing play and cuts inside to create goal-scoring chances. Benzema isn't a proper no.9 and drops very deep to create play as well as take chances in the box. In all, Carlo's Madrid gives a very entertaining style of play.

Sevilla:

Lopetegui is a tactically shrewd and intellectual person. Under him, Sevilla has improved by leaps and bounds. The former Madrid man starts with a similar 4-3-3 line-up that sometimes changes to 4-2-3-1. His fullbacks do the bulk of wing play and cross into the box a lot more.

Kounde acts as the ball progressing CB while Carlos stays back. While in possession, Sevilla plays a 3-4-3 formation with Gudelj dropping between the CBs to aid in creating attacks. Jordan and Rakitic, the most important part of Sevilla's setup, take the role in creating attacks the most. From playing defence splitting passes to sending pinpoint long balls, these two control the gameplay.

Papu Gomez and Ocampos are the inverted forwards who often cut inside to score or give a chance to Martial/En Nesyri, their main striker. Off the ball, Sevilla plays a 5-3-2 formation to snatch the ball away quickly. In this way, Sevilla's play unfolds.

Key Players

Karim Benzema:

The Frenchman is in swashbuckling form for Real Madrid this season and is enduring the form of his life. Among Europe’s top goal scorers, he has the best G+A. He has been the fulcrum of the Real Madrid line-up, helping the team in every possible way. With goals and assists to his name, Benzema is proving to be decisive again for Madrid. If Madrid is to win against Sevilla, then Benzema should perform at his best.

Ivan Rakitic:

The ageless former Barcelona veteran is enjoying an excellent run at the club from where he started in LaLiga. He has proved to be a vital cog in Sevilla’s midfield where he controls the game fully. From building up the play from the back to defending in between the channels, the Croatian has starred everywhere. No wonder he is one of the main reasons why Sevilla gets to retain possession of the ball so much. His 6 goals and 5 assists are quite decent being a midfielder. Everyone knows he is the player for big matches and he would be eager to prove his worth once again against Madrid.
