Mercedes Petronas team principal Toto Wolff has expressed that Lewis Hamilton could win the race at the Silverstone circuit in England. The Austrian executive talked about how the Brit driver has been seconds behind the leader and if presented with a competitive car, could register his first win of the season.
Toto Wolff also addressed that the seven-time world champion is the ‘most complete driver ever’ and has been a favorite at the British GP over the past few years. "I think if we give him a car that is just a few tenths off the leaders, he will win the race," Wolff told Reuters at Silverstone. “He's the most complete driver ever and everybody has his favourite circuit and with Lewis, it was always Silverstone, and Montreal and Hungary as well.

Toto Wolff also talked about how driving at their home circuit could boost the chances of both the Mercedes drivers. He said, “I guess if you have 150,000 people cheering for you in the grandstands it gives you the home game advantage. Lewis deserves a strong result and a victory because he has been particularly unlucky this season and George's driving was just spectacular," said Wolff. "Him (Russell) winning a British Grand Prix would be like Lewis, both would be very exciting."
A few days back, the Mercedes team principal also pointed out that if they can manage to set up a lower car, the Silver Missiles could have a fighting chance. “I think if we are able to run the car low, then we can be competitive,” Toto Wolff said. “But you know, after Barcelona, we were cheering that we’re back in a Championship fight and here we go. So let’s see.”
