Liverpool defender Nat Phillips’ move to Scottish club Celtic has been finalized. The footballer has been signed by Celtic on loan for a short period after both clubs confirmed on Thursday. The 26-year-old has joined on loan until January 2024, after which time both parties will review the agreement.

Since joining Liverpool's first team in 2019, he has made 29 appearances and scored one goal. However, he was immediately loaned out to Stuttgart of Germany's second division. He also spent the second half of the 2021–2022 season on loan at Bournemouth and has been connected to transfers multiple times.

After the loan deal with Celtic, Phillips expressed his feelings in an exclusive interview with Celtic, after being signed by the successful Scottish club. He said, “It’s the history of the club. It’s such a huge club, the club’s aspirations, the level it competes at, the fact that they’re in the Champions League this year and the mentality of the club – they want to be winners in everything they do. I can’t wait to get going, I can’t wait to play in front of the home fans and I’m looking forward to being out there on the pitch," Phillips added further.

The club has also announced that the 26-year-old will be donning the No.6 jersey for them. His deal will be discussed once his loan period ends in January 2024. He might return to Anfield after the loan, as the contract with Liverpool runs till June 30, 2025.
