Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 36th National Games in Ahmedabad on September 29 (Thursday) in Ahmedabad. The glorious event was illustrated with the presence of London Olympic medallist Gagan Narang, javelin star Neeraj Chopra, weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, Track and Field legend Anju Bobby George, and two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu.

The likes of Mohit Chauhan, Shankar Mahadevan and popular Garba singer Parth Ojha graced the event with their enthralling performances. While the opening ceremony of the multi-sporting event was applauded by many, the event was also marred by controversy. According to several reports, London Olympic medallist Gagan Narang tried to nudge Tokyo Olympic gold medallist and other prominent athletes who were present at the stage alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

As per the video going viral on the internet, Narang can be seen asking Chopra and others to set aside while the prime minister inaugurated the event.

Meanwhile, Narang posted a picture standing alongside the likes of PV Sindhu, Neeraj Chopra, Mirabai Chanu and field legend Anju Bobby George, on Twitter and quizzed the fans, asking them to tell how many Olympic medallists and world champions they could spot in the picture.

Earlier, West Bengal governor La Ganesan drew a lot of criticism from all quarters for pushing Indian football skipper Sunil Chhetri while trying to get himself clicked during the prize distribution of the Durand Cup in Kolkata.

Ganesan was standing slightly beside Chhetri when the Bengaluru skipper was handed the winner's trophy. Ganesan was seen pushing Indian football's poster boy to make his way to the middle for the photo-ops. Netizens slammed the minister for his ‘shameful’ act.
