KL Rahul has been fined for maintaining a slow over rate in the game against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday. Lucknow Super Giants beat Rajasthan Royals by 10 runs at the Sawai Mansingh stadium. As it was the captain’s first offense he was fined INR 12 lakh.
The IPL released a statement on the breach of the Code of Conduct "Lucknow SuperGiants captain KL Rahul has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, on Wednesday. As it was the team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Mr. Rahul was fined Rs 12 lakhs," the statement said.
LSG scored 154 in the first innings with Kyle Mayers scoring a half-century. Kl Rahul’s men restricted RR to 144 courtesy of Avesh Khan’s three wickets and Stoinis’s two. They will face Punjab Kings on Saturday at the Ekana stadium.
According to the rules, if a team takes more than 90 minutes for bowling 20 overs in an uninterrupted IPL match (which is a rarity), its captain faces a fine of INR 12 lakh. A second-time offender is fined 24 lakhs and the remaining 10 players are fined INR 6 lakh or 25% of the match fee, whichever is lower. A third-time offender has to pay INR 30 lakh as a fine apart from facing a one-match ban along with INR 12 lakh or 50% of the match fee.
