The Lucknow Super Giants defeated the Gujarat Titans for the first time in IPL history after registering a 33-run victory. Since the inception of both franchises, Gujarat has dominate d this contest and won four straight games over the 2022 and 2023 seasons. After winning the toss, Lucknow started with the bat but had a disastrous start as in-form Quinton de Kock got out after just four balls.

Soon Devdutt Paddikal also got out cheaply but KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis 73-run stand to get LSG back into the side. The LSG captain struggled and eventually got out for a score of 33 in 31 balls but Stoinis kept scoring runs as he ended up with a 58-run knock. Finishing their on a strong note, Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran smashed some crucial boundaries to take LSG's score to 163.

Then in the second innings, Gujarat got off to a great start with Captain Shubhman Gill and Sai Sudharshan putting up a 54-run stand. But Lucknow's spin turned the game around as Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya combined to pick five wickets before Yash Thakur's five-fier and Naveen ul-Haq's singular scalp helped the Super Giants bundle out GT at 130.

Talking about this defeat,  Shubhman Gill  said, " It was a good wicket to bat on, a poor batting performance by us. We got a decent start, but we lost wickets in the middle and couldn't recover from that. Our bowlers were exceptional as they restricted them to 160-odd, just that our batters let us down."
