What a thriller fans witnessed at the Brabourne Stadium between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians. Both the teams had their moments in the game but before the start of the last over of the match with the chasing team GT needing 9 runs to win the game, one had to see the Titans as the favourites with master finishers David Miller and Rahul Tewatia in the middle.
However, GT only managed 3 runs off the final six deliveries in a sensational final over bowled by Daniel Sams where he backed his strength- the slower ball, outwitting the opponent batter. Tewatia even got run out in a dramatic final over with Sams finishing the game off with a couple of dot balls with 6 needed from 2 balls, handing MI a 5-run victory, only their second in the season.
Earlier, a good start from Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan and a late cameo from Tim David helped the five-time champions post 177/6 with the middle overs being dominated by Rashid Khan as he finished with 2 for 24. In the run chase, Gujarat too had a great start with both openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill reaching fifties before falling to Murugan Ashwin (2 for 29).
However, two crucial run-outs, that of Hardik Pandya followed by Tewatia in the final over helped MI seal the game.
