With former India captain and veteran wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni spending some quality with his family, friends and near-dear ones, he has time and again being put forward with a question regarding his future in the esteemed Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the 44-year-old has not made any statement around his future in the league with still months left, on Monday, August 11, he received a massive boost.
The former CSK and Indian captain, who has appeared in several events over the past few months, was shared with an update around the INR 100 Crore defamation case, which he filed in 2014 after his name was dragged in 2013 betting scandal by two prominent media channels and a journalist, where some derogatory remarks were made against him.

But on Monday, August 11, the Madras High Court order trial of the pending case. The High Court appointed Justice CV Karthikeyan as an Advocate Commissioner, who will now be recording the statement on behalf of MS Dhoni. As per a report in The Hindu, senior counsel PR Raman submitted an affidavit from MS Dhoni, seeking the start of trial, which has been pending for a decade now.
“The above request is made with the intent to avoid any undue delay (in disposal of the suit pending in the High Court for over a decade) and to support the fair, just and speedy adjucation of the suit. I state that I shall extend my full co-operation with the Advocate Commissioner and comply with all directions issued by this honourable court regarding the trial and recording of evidence,” the statement of the affidavit read.
It is to be noted that the 2013 sport-fixing and betting scandal is considered to be a major blot in the IPL history. As many as three cricketers from Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were found guilty in the spot-fixing case, which led to the suspension of the two franchises for two years. Although, Dhoni was unnecessarily dragged in the betting scandal, but escaped any sanction from the league.
