After a successful completion of the first edition of the M ajor League Baseball Cup, the Cup is set to return with another one this year. The MLB Cup, which was a 12-team event last year, will see more that 160 teams participating in the tournament.
The 2022 edition is said to be held across eight venues with players from age group between 8 to 12 taking up their skill. As per the release, the first five legs of the tournament will take place in Indore, Kolhapur, Kerala, Hyderabad and Mumbai. From the 162 teams registered, the top 16 teams will then be invited to an all-inclusive final tournament, scheduled to take place in Noida in December 2022.
As quoted by ANI, Major League Baseball India’s Business Manager Ryo Takahashi said, “When we conducted our first MLB Cup in India amid the pandemic, we were encouraged to see the response from the baseball fans in the country. This time around, the excitement around the tournament and the significant increase in teams has further cemented our belief that India can be a big growth region for the sport.”
