According to fresh reports, Manchester City have been fined 260,000 pounds by the Football Association on Friday for its fans' behaviour after they celebrated last season's Premier League title win by invading the pitch following the team's victory over Aston Villa. Reportedly, Greater Manchester Police also charged two men following the pitch invasion for throwing a pyrotechnic onto the pitch.

Football Association informed that the club admitted to failing to ensure its spectators and all those purporting to be its supporters or followers from conducting themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from using threatening and violent behavior while encroaching onto the pitch after the final whistle.

The FA fined Everton 300,000 pounds last week for two pitch invasions by supporters in last season's win over Crystal Palace as well as a clash between an Everton fan and Palace manager Patrick Vieira.

The final weeks of the 2021-22 season were marred by a series of pitch invasions at Premier League and English Football League grounds. Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen was assaulted during the disorder, while the crossbar at one end collapsed under the weight of supporters.

Premier League clubs announced in September that fans guilty of anti-social or criminal behaviors at top-flight grounds will be banned from attending games at their club for at least a year. The disorder is at an eight-year high in England and Wales according to Home Office figures, after capacity crowds returned following the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions.
